Safariland ALS Paddle/ Belt Holster

Safariland released a new holster. I must say, it's pretty amazing. I picked this holster up about 3 weeks ago and the reason why I purchased this product was because I was actually looking for the Blackhawk Serpa holster, but the website I was ordering from was sold out. Although they didn't have the Serpa holster I'm very pleased with the work Safariland has done.
The ALS paddle/ belt holster stands for "Automatic Locking System", just like Blackhawks serpa holsters it securely locks your firearm. Straight out of the box, I slapped my pistol inside the holster and it just fit like a glove... Clicked into place and held onto my firearm even with the most rigorous pulls, yanks, and drops. Yes, I did indeed drop it a few times on purpose just to see what happens.
It's made out of a tough polymer material and is lined with soft leather to protect your precious pistol. It also comes with the option to use either the saddle or belt holster. Honestly I always hated the belt holsters for the fact that they didn't feel too secure, but I tell you... This one delivers and at times it's hard to get it off of your belt/ pants. When I struggle to take this system off willingly it brings some security knowing that if anyone tries to take it off, they'll have a very hard time doing so.
Comparisons:
OK! so here's where I compare it to Blackhawks Serpa models... I like them both, but I think Safariland has got Blackhawk beat with this battle.
I want to hit the price ranges first. $40 for the ALS and $50 for the Serpa... Enough said on this end.
Now let's chat about the paddles. The ALS fits nice and snug and doesn't budge with vulgar motions while the paddles on the serpa tend to dig into your side and I've had an issue with the whole holster coming off my side/ belt/ pants along with my firearm... NOT COOL!!!
Next, I will discuss the release buttons. For one I don't like having the mechanism that free's my firearm facing my opponent or anyone else in that matter as BlackHawk has theirs. Safariland has integrated their release mechanism on the inside near the dovetail of your firearm so drawing your weapon is smooth while keeping your release tab/ mechanism away from anyone else's view. I like that a lot.
Lastly I just want to remind everyone that I stumbled upon the ALS holster as I was looking to buy Blackhawks Serpa holster and I am not getting any endorsements from Safariland... I wish!
