Here's a simple introduction to the types of calibers handguns/ pistols, shotguns, rimfire firearms, and rifles have. Now I know that there are hundreds more that are available, but I've decided to go through the most common calibers in which is used for home defense, and target or competition shooting. I know when I was first getting into shooting I had a hard time figuring out what certain bullet indications and prefix's meant so be sure to check out the bullet abbreviation spreadsheet which will help you out in figuring out what characteristics some rounds may have.
